It’s not often I end up on the other side of the camera.
These photos were taken on the 4th Street Dock in Tofino by the incredibly talented Kelton Burns, with the massive fishing boats towering behind us and the harbour buzzing with its usual rhythm. I edited the photos myself afterward, which made the whole experience feel even more personal.
Zach and I spend a lot of time around the water here, so the dock felt like the perfect place for photos. It’s one of those spots in Tofino that always feels alive, fishing boats coming and going, seagulls overhead, and that constant salty air drifting through the harbour.
We kept things simple and just wandered the dock as the light softened in the evening. Nothing overly posed, just the two of us hanging out in a place that already feels like part of our everyday life.
Being photographed instead of photographing someone else was a strange but really nice reminder of what it feels like to be on the other side.
