Mountains raised me, long before the ocean found me. I grew up in Calgary, chasing speed through snow-covered lines in the Rockies. Somewhere between the silence of early chairlifts and the rush of race days, I picked up a camera more out of instinct than intention.

Photography became a way to hold onto feeling: not perfection, but presence. The in-between moments. The quiet ones that say everything without a single word.

Hi all! I'm Mariana

I was born in Colombia and raised in Calgary, where most of my childhood was spent ski racing in the mountains and dreaming up big adventures. Somewhere along the way, I discovered photography, first through an old camera sitting in my basement, then through classes in university, and slowly through the realization that a photograph can hold a feeling in a way words sometimes can’t.
Eventually the ocean called me west. I came to Tofino for the surf, but somewhere between the salt air, the forests, and the rhythm of the tides, I realized I could see my whole future here.
What moves me most, though, is people. Two people standing in a beautiful place, choosing each other. The quiet moments, the laughter, the way your hands find each other without thinking.
If you’re looking for someone who will genuinely care about your story and document it with honesty and heart, it would mean the world to me to photograph it.

Let’s work together
My approach is rooted in cinematic storytelling and a documentary style. I’m always looking for the moments that unfold naturally, the way light falls across a scene, the quiet glances, the laughter that happens when no one is thinking about the camera. I’ll guide you when it’s helpful, but most of the time I’m simply observing and documenting the day as it happens. My goal is to create images that feel honest and cinematic, photos that capture not just how your day looked, but how it truly felt.
