Some sessions feel especially close to home.
J and D live just across the road from Chesterman Beach on Lynn Road, so this stretch of coastline is part of their everyday life. Morning walks with their dog Wheeler, watching the tides change, and now preparing to welcome their first baby here on the west coast.
They’re expecting a baby boy, and it felt really special to document this moment for them in a place that already holds so many memories.
We spent the afternoon wandering along the beach with Wheeler leading the way, stopping whenever the light felt right. Chesterman has a way of doing that, wide open sand, soft ocean light, and the kind of quiet atmosphere that makes everything slow down a little.
There’s something really beautiful about photographing this season of life before everything changes. The anticipation, the excitement, the calm before a whole new rhythm begins.
J and D are about to step into a completely new chapter, and their little boy is already so lucky to be growing up surrounded by the ocean, the forest, and parents who clearly adore him already.
