When N reached out to me about planning a surprise proposal for C, I was immediately in. They were visiting Tofino for the weekend from Surrey with C’s sister and her husband, and N mentioned they’re the kind of couple who love being outside, hiking, and exploring together. That always helps me narrow down the perfect location.
I suggested Pettinger Point: one of my favourite spots for couples who want something wild, scenic, and a little adventurous. Up there, it really feels like you’re standing on the edge of the Pacific. It’s such a beautiful place, and I recommend it often… but it’s not for everyone. The hike is only about 15–20 minutes, with a boardwalk to start, but the last stretch climbs up a steep hill with roots and rocks. If you’re up for it though, it’s absolutely worth it.
N was all in and felt C would love it too, so we made the plan. My role? Hiding out incognito and trying not to look suspicious... lol. Honestly one of the most stressful parts of proposals for me, but also one of my favourite parts. There’s something so fun about watching it all come together in real time.
They made their way up to the viewpoint, the timing was perfect, and N got down on one knee with the Pacific stretching out behind them. C said yes (of course), and it was such a beautiful moment to witness.
Right after, we rolled straight into a couples session while the excitement was still fresh before they headed off to their dinner reservations. The best kind of evening if you ask me.
